What about ISO 45001?
ISO 45001 was established in March 2018, and it is an ISO standard for management systems of occupational health and safety (OH&S). Its goal is the reduction of occupational injuries and diseases. The standard is based on OHSAS 18001:2007 standard and is set to replace the existing standard over a period of three years. The new standard’s (occupational health and safety management system) requirement was set up to combat the problem of occupations injuries and diseases for employers and the wider economy to prevent losses from early retirements, staff absence, rising insurance premiums etc. The standard was developed by a committee of occupational health and safety experts, and it follows other generic management system approaches. Certification to ISO 45001 should not be mistaken for a requirement of the standard as it is a useful tool to demonstrate that it meets its criteria. Being already certified to OHSAS 18001 means you will have some of the necessary tools and systems in place for ISO 45001.
