The SASO Certificate of Conformity

If you sell or export items to Saudi Arabia you will need a SASO Certificate of Conformity to get your items through customs. This might mean some extra steps in getting your goods and products from India to Saudi Arabia, but we are here to help you get through the process as quickly and simply as possible. We will take all of the worry out of getting your Certificate of Conformity to so you don’t have to worry about any problems with customs. The SASO program was instituted to protect the Saudi Arabian public and has several key objectives:

• National Security
• Public Health
• Protect the Environment
• Preserve Religious and Public Morals
• Consumer Safety
• Protection from Deceptive Business Practices

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry enforces the Conformity Assessment Program, clearing all shipments for Saudi Customs. To clear customs you will need a Certificate of Conformity from an agency, like ours, that is authorized to complete an inspection. Inspecting agencies will confirm that products entering Saudi Arabia meet the relevant technical regulations as well as the national and regional standards. These certificates are issued in the country of origin. Along with the certificate you will also need to have a non-removable indicator which states the country of origin.

There are different certifications processes for different product types but most often you will need to go through the following steps:

• Verification of Documentation
• Compliance assessment based on applicable standards/regulations
• Inspection of the finished product along with Lab Testing
• Issuance of a Certificate of Conformity

The need for SASO certification covers most products entering Saudi Arabia; however there are a few exceptions. Items on the exception list do have their own regulatory standards that you will need to comply with. The list includes:

• Medical Products and Medicines
• Crude Oil
• Food
• Goods for the Military

Failing to have a SASO Certificate of Conformity could cause you to have your goods returned, at your expense and fines could be imposed. Additionally you may be required to show you have taken corrective action and demonstrate that you will comply with the SASO requirements in the future. Though getting through the SASO Certificate of Conformity process might seem daunting, we are here to help. We are experts at this process and can make it easy and painless so that you can easily import your products from India to Saudi Arabia. UQSR is a leading SASO certification agency in India.
